Mall of America Phase II & Stadium...

A Vision for Minnesota's Future...

Minnesota Tourism - Stadium - Jobs - Revenue - Image

5 Million new Tourists a year for 5,000 MN Tourism Jobs, only a MOA Phase II & Stadium provides "Extra" non-construction Jobs over other sites; a "Revenue Forecast" of  all sites including Mall of America will tell the story.

Facts & Figures of what a MOA Phase II & Stadium can do for Minnesota, People of Minnesota, above is the plan and below the results:

  • 5 Million new Tourists a year for MN.

  • 5,000 new Tourism Jobs, core city/student.

  • 5,000 Construction Jobs, twice other Sites.

  • $2 Billion year in new Tourism Revenue.

  • $150 Million in new State Tax Revenue.

  • New "Out-of-State" Money into Minnesota.

Tourism: 1.4 Billion people will visit 25 yrs., “Top 3” Best Known Tourism Destination; MOA II & Stadium’s Worldwide Fame gets $4 Billion in Free Tourism Advertising 25 yrs.

Stadium: World’s Most Famous Mall & Stadium; “Superdome Effect,” Superbowl, Final Fours, will attract World Class Events, “If it matters, it’s at Mall of America Stadium.”

Jobs: 5,000 full time; 5,000 part time; 5,000 construction, jobs for core city kids, college students, long term unemployed; MOA II works.  MN construction industry worst in U.S.

Revenue: $2+ Billion yr. in “New Money” from “Out-side the State,” US, Canada & Worldwide Tourism money flowing in;  Stadium DT - Arden Hills, just Minnesota Money.

Image: “Minnesota’s Mojo,” seen it???  Down since the 70’s when we were “Innovative & Cool,” now no "positives;" our MN "Brand;" needs work;  “Mega Fun at the Mega Mall State, Minnesota...”

"New" More visits for Downtown Minneapolis...

New Target Center in Downtown Minneapolis...

Spending $155 Million to redo the Target Center is a waste of money, it will be 26 years old when redone and Xcel will be 16, we need to stager the age of Sports Venues. Also, the City of Minneapolis will lose $200 Million in Revenue when the Wolves play at Xcel while the project is being done.

A new Target Center will allow the Gophers to share a new Professional Arena with the Timberwolves with have a spillover effect helping Gopher Ticket Sales and Tubby Smith will have a great facility to Recruit Top Talent from around the country.

The perfect location for the new Arena is between 7th & 8th on Hennepin back to 1st Ave. No.  The 1st Ave. Bar and other entertainment businesses can then move to an almost empty Block E.

Gopher Sports with a new Basketball Arena and using Mall of America Stadium will be helped greatly in Recruiting as the World Class Facility's will force the Big Ten to schedule National Broadcasts which in turn help Recruiting.  The Gophers at present have no definitive plan to improve their Sports Programs and this will help greatly.

MOA Stadium Naming Rights...

$200 to $300 Million for Naming Rights already on record...

For a Mall of America Stadium as voiced on February 13, 2012; that an "Opening Opinion" from a Coastal "Buyer Agent" and now "It's Time" for Government to hire an "Seller Agent" for MN; $$$. MOA Plan with Naming Right "Zones."

Where it will go, an empty lot shovel ready...

MOA Phase II & Stadium  Site, the "Ikea Lot" North of Mall of America, across  from the North Entrance of Mall of America.

A Historical Site where Residents of MN have been traveling for 50 yrs. since the days of Metropolitan Stadium & Met Center and with so many things to do the hurry to leave is not there, the traffic flow will be spaced lowering the stress & hassles of events.

MOA Site is the Most Centrally Located of all Sites by Population in the Metro Area when you factor in Suburbs South of the Minnesota River. A Full 80% of the Metro Population Base is within 20 Miles of MOA and is the best location with Free Parking.

Mall of America Location & Advantage:

The MOA North Side Lot east of Ikea is ready to go with infrastructure in place & only the raising of the Ramada & relocation of American Boulevard needed; shovel ready.

Adjacent to MSP Airport with Light Rail access to Terminals and Downtown Minneapolis Hotels as well as Hotels on the Bloomington - Eden Prairie 494 Strip and on the Metro's Hwy 494 & 694 Highway Loop, it's the ideal Metro location, Tourism & Resident Friendly.

Mall of America is the World's Most Famous Mall and with the addition of the long awaited Phase II the new Stadium will not only attract the usual 40 Million annual  visitors a new Group of Tourists of 5 to 10 Million from around the world will show up to see what's happening at MOA.

Mall of America Phase II & Stadium a “Top 3” World’s Greatest Tourism Attraction will have 1.4 Billion People visit the next 25 yrs. and with "Things to do" it will bring in $2 Billion a yr. in Revenue.

  MOA Phase II & Stadium

  Sports, Entertainment & Recreational Advantage...

No other Site Offers the World Class Opportunities that a MOA can Provide for Superbowl's, NCAA Final Fours & Regional's, Big Ten Championships, MN High School Sports & "Best Site" for MN Recreational Use; & a

Health Club with Exercise Classes on the Field and when done working out, "Jog around the Track;" a Touristism attraction.

MN Golden Gopher "Rival Games," Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska, end of season games at MOA Stadium; they "Travel Big,” 100,000 attendance for "National TV time & Gopher Recruiting of Top Talent." A Great new start for Gopher Football & other Sports & much more from MOA Stadium.

5 Million People Yr. will use MOA II Recreational & Fitness Facilities;  location; easy in-out parking; jog the stadium track, World’s Largest Fitness Classes on the Field; "Open the Roof, Wow!!!"

Patterned after Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis & Inter-developed as part of Mall of America Phase II, will be Minnesota's Largest Construction Project ever at a $2.1 Billion & with the Wilderness Trail Residential & Office & the "Global Solution" for the Downtown's & University; $5 Billion Total...

Selling Tickets & getting People to the Stadium, Government, very Important

"Our Biggest challenge moving forward is how we get people in our stadiums when the viewing experience has been so good at home."

"Stadium attendance did dip for 3 consecutive years after reaching an all-time high in 2007."  Selling Tickets the "Big Issue" going forward & in MN the Stadium very important.

36 NFL TV Black Outs in the last Two Years & Four Times that Avoided by NFL Rules that Allow Deep Discounting of Tickets to Sponsors; Season Tickets; Bogo...

NFL Tickets sales way down, looking ahead: Vikings Season Tickets, 50% had them for 30 years & being older are ready to give them up & the 40 year olds don't have the interest to buy.

In 3 years 40% of Ticket Sales will be deeply discounted or subsidized; "Blackouts?"  Young People, Fantasy Football League's, 34 Million of 100  Million Fans?   Fan Interest down, Superbowl Sunday, Sports Bars half full & no young people; NFL interest down.

Vikings Ticket Sales in Downtown Minneapolis are way Down.  Vikings Promotions in 2011; Season Tickets $290 for 10 Games; Tickets Half Price, Free Tickets; and soon like the old Timberwolve's, $10 Tickets?

Tickets are harder to sell;  70" TV's for $1999 & in 3 years 80" TV's $1999; why spend $300 for Two People to go to a game.  And FCC to stop Blackouts, Ticket Sales?

Mall of America has that extra “Glitz” & "Family Fun things to do" due to location and that will sell Tickets avoiding "Blackouts."  A "Global Solution," major new Revenue for Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington & the Vikings.

"Golden Age of Sports," is it over? Vikings tickets sales & attendance way down; Metal Detectors, why?  Sports Bar’s don’t draw; only winning teams sell tickets, a down economy & focus of our lives are changing, Professional Sports are now just an interest not a passion.

MOA Phase II & Stadium...

How to pay for it with "No Tax Money," here’s how:

Naming Rights, $200 to $300 Million Opening Bid, & $1 Billion possible with "User Generated Revenue" pays for a Mall of America Phase II & Stadium totally with "NO TAX MONEY," & MN will get $50 Billion in new Revenue.

  • MOA Stadium Naming Rights, Building & Interior       -   $1 Billion...

  • Hotel, Rental Car, Liquor and other Revenues.            -   $250 Million

  • Sports Clothing, Merchandise & Memorabilia.             -   $150 Million

  • Fiscal Disparities Pool of MN Hospitality Venues.        -   $200 Million

  • Vikings Ownership Group with upscale Stadium.         -   $300 Million

  • NFL Funded Stadium Development Program.              -   $200 Million

  • Mall of America Phase II & Stadium  -  Total:       -   $2.1 Billion

Naming Rights, Stadiums are “Local,” name notoriety only statewide & 10 NFL Game Days yr., MOA, “World’s Most Famous Stadium,” Game & Event visibility "Global," & 365 days yr. ; "current approach,” “Five corporations to buy Naming Rights; One for the Building itself & 4 “Cornerstones;” MOA II Stadium with 25 Revenue Zones & "Extensive" Electronic Signing Capabilities geared to events as they are hosted; Revenue.

A “Global Solution” for Minnesota, the Big Picture...

"The Big Picture;" "What" really is best for "Minnesota," a "Global Solution" for "all" of Minnesota's Problems;  the objective is to focus on what will make MN Great again & not on "just" what DT Interests want...

What are the Problems and Issues Minnesota need's to address???

  • A new Sports Facility for the Vikings and "Minnesota" Recreational Use.

  • A way to get "Revenue Projections" and a way to pay for a new Stadium.

  • A way of Providing Global Management for all the Metro Sports Venues.

  • A way to bring more people into Downtown Minneapolis everyday visits.

  • A way of providing "Comfortable and Safe" Space for Downtown Visits.

  • An answer for Declining Tourism & Daytime Traffic at Mall of America.

  • A way to Compete with New Jersey's Xanadu, the American Dream Mall.

Governor Mark Dayton, Stadium & Tourism Solution very complicated, would an appointed Stadium & Tourism Task Force to look for a "Global Solution" of all of Minnesota's Problems with an "Open & Fair Process" including MOA be the answer?

Where all Sports Facilities & Convention Center, are Financially Managed in one Group with a "MOA Revenue Zone" sharing Revenue with Minneapolis & St. Paul for Downtown Tourism & Skyways, Bloomington & Viking's to match Arden Hills.

For Sports, it's the Target Center, Ecel Energy Center, Debt taken care of and then new Sports Facilities, a Saint's Ball Park & new DT Basketball Arena for Wolves & Gophers.

TCF Stadium, it failed to RecruitNew Sports Facilities, time for a serious look?   Patrick Reusse, "Never before has the committee (Turkey of the Year Awards) honored an inanimate object, but then never has a $290 million tribute to a sports team turned into a white elephant in three seasons."  "You can't get there for kickoff without a two hour head start and it takes longer to get off campus after the game."

Basketball, on campus with Location & Parking issues or a new Downtown Arena for the Timberwolve's & the Gophers which will almost double revenues & "Help Recruiting."

For Tourism & Downtown Rejuvenation...

World's First Next Generation Street-wide Skyway Boulevards for Downtown Mpls. & St. Paul.  Develop the Core City for Suburban Shoppers to come Downtown with go "Store to Store" in "Safe Controlled Space."  Shopping instead of Events to attract visits.

Above left, the Skyway Boulevard down 7th St. & on to the Convention Center with Balcony level People Movers.  Left, Dreary 7th St. where two big hotels are located, turn this into Skyway Boulevards & special lighting at street level.

Inter-active with Buildings with sidewalk Cafe's, it will be like Nicollet Mall in the summer all year long & with direct "Store to Store" Shopping.

Minnesota made 100 Million trips to the Malls last year & only 1 Million trips DT exclusively for shopping.  Malls are a success, Skyways are a success, why not combine them with Next Generation "Weather Free Controlled Safe Space," Skyway Boulevards.

Next Generation Skyway Boulevards, the 1st Phase 7th St. from Target Center to the Hennepin County Government Center with Balcony level People Movers.

The Story of Skyways in Minnesota... The St. Paul Daily Globe in 1886 wrote about a  multi-layered downtown and in 1953 William Purcell in a issue of Northwest Architect had a plan for “lifting all foot traffic up from the present level," but Mpls. Businessman Leslie Park and his architect partner Edward Baker 50 years ago in 1962 built the first true DT skyway in the Twin Cities linking their new Northstar Center to the now-gone Northwestern National Bank Building.

Downtown Minneapolis needs to stop living off events that only help the Bars & Strip Clubs owners wih only weekend visits; the "Corporate Core" used by Downtown workers with "Controlled Safe Space" is key to attract Daytime-Weekday visits.

Visualize, a "New Minneapolis" & "What you can do" for Downtown Minneapolis and the People of Minnesota and that includes Jobs for the "Core City," Students and Long Term Unemployed and new revenue for the City & State.

New attractions; Fountains on the Mississippi at St. Anthony Falls Spillway viewed from Stone Arch Bridge, laser lights, great in summer & winter, frozen fountains away from people, how high will they go?

Walt Disney had vision & could see what he didn’t live to see; in MN we have MOA, the “Greatest” Best Know Worldwide Tourism attraction you could ever dream of & an opportunity for a new “Phase II & Stadium." MOA Stadium or DT Skyways, do we have the vision to make them happen?

MOA Phase II & Stadium - Jobs & Other Development...

Reminder "only" a Mall of America Phase II & Stadium creates new jobs beyond construction jobs, 5,000 Jobs.  The Metrodome employ's 22 Full Time People & any other stadium without MOA Tourism will be the same and In a letter to:  Construction Companies, Unions, & Architectural Firms about what we can do for Minnesota:

Visualize These Job & Tourism Creating Projects, $5 Billion Total:

  • Mall of America Phase II & Stadium with new multiple Parking Ramps.
  • MOA Phase II with 1 or 2 new Hotels and connected Skyways to all Hotels.
  • "Wilderness Trail" Residential & Office Space on Minnesota River Farmland.
  • Next Generation Street-wide Skyway Boulevards for DT Mpls. & DT St. Paul.
  • New Target Macy's Building at 7th & Nicollet as part of new Skyway Boulevard's.

$5 Billion Dollars of MN Development, financed from a "MOA Revenue  Zone."

  • Or...      A Downtown Vikings Stadium with $12 Million yr in Operating Costs.

Minnesota, do we want to build "just" another Stadium or do we want to build upon the World's Most Famous & Successful Mall.  The most asked question at the Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau by large convention groups is, "What's new at Mall of America?" "They, want a reason to come back to Minnesota, let's give them one.

World’s Fist Green Stadium," No Heating System needed,  at Mall of America, like MOA which is heated by Radiant light from sun roofs, lighting and people, MOA II & Stadium will be the same.

MOA Stadium, ECO Friendly, saves $3 Million yr. in Operating Costs off the usual $12 Million a year to run a stadium plus “Low Cost” use for H. S. Sports.

Comparison Charts on Tickets Sales by Stadium Location with Tourism Revenue; Regular Tourism Additional.

MOA with Worldwide Recognition has the capacity to attract Events & Tourism that no other Stadium site can and these charts give an example of Revenue difference's, not included the Big Ten Football Championship Games and Tourism in general at 5 Million year; that's 5,000 Jobs, $2 Billion in Revenue yr.

Mall of America, a Top 3 Worldwide Tourism Destination & no other State or City has it, this is a MN State resource we can use to generate Tourism, Jobs & Revenue; a once in a lifetime opportunity for MN.

New Jersey's Xanadu Mall Opens in 2013; "American Dream," will be competing with MOA as No. 1 U.S. Tourism attraction & World’s Largest Mall, & Owned by MOA Owners and with an NFL's Giant's & Jet's Stadium, Indoor Skiing, Entertainment & Shopping, and only 5 Miles from NYC; Minnesota's answer, a Mall of America Phase II & Stadium...

Mall of America visits now have gone from 63 Million in 2000 to only 40 Million in 2010. In 10 years MOA has gone from an International & National Tourism Destination to be only a Regional Mall.  With a MOA Phase II & Stadium Tourists will return.

Wilderness Trail, a "Self-contained" City on the Minnesota River Bluffs for Jobs and an Exciting new Place to live.  Bike & Hiking Trails and a Beautiful Gully to Explore.

Minnesota Tourism & Outfitting Store at MOA,  we live in a big beautiful State with many things to do & staff is working hard on Marketing MN, but now its time to drop the Literature Rack at MOA & put Real People in a Store, polish the YouTube Video's & get them excited about MN; sell trips, Bus, Plane or Car,

Put your sales hat on and sell Tours of your Town, County and Area:

     * Out-state & Metro Excursions with Transportation, sold on site...

     * Wabasha, got eagles flying, load up a bus and get visitors there...

     * Duluth, tall ships are in, Skiing, Buses and Planes, get them there.

     * Canoeing, outstanding Buel river, day trips to Cannon or Taylor Falls.

     * Fishing, inexpensive metro area trips and beyond for the big ones.

     * Big Carp on MOA Minnesota Fishing Pier, kids will remember for years.

Mall of America, entry point to Minnesota, extend that memory by furnishing fun and easy things to do.  Chambers, furnish staff help, bring YouTube videos and sell scheduled Tourism Trips, your "efforts" will cerate Jobs & happiness for our guests.

Out-State Minnesota, Most important for you and it can "only' Happen if there's a Mall of America Phase II & Stadium & you have that "base" to work from, make it happen.

Tourism Groups and Chambers, Text & E-mail your Legislators & Gov. Dayton.

Downtown St. Paul, a new St. Paul Saints Stadium paid for with the MOA II Stadium Revenue Fund and where the Gopher Baseball Team can play when weather permits from their home at MOA.

St. Paul Connected Skyways; inside space, you got all skyway attractions in one area except the Children’s Museum, it can be moved and 7th Place, Brewery & Theater across from Rice Park, an inside Boulevard?

St. Paul, Fountains & an Ice Palace for you, on that island by the Bridge viewed from the Science Museum Area.  Build a frame for the winter and out lights in and on it an away from people a spectacular sight to see.

And the Next Generation Skyway System also connecting Ecel Energy Center & museum's & then the Corporate Core.  Planning & funding from MOA II Revenue Fund.

What makes Mall of America successful?  Controlled Space.Comfortable & Safe with no hassles, climate controlled with free & easy parking, less stress in driving to a MOA location and much more. A lesson for Downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Minnesota "had" a State Planning Agency which was dropped and even though most cities & towns have one, Minnesota has no means to control Government "idea's" and making sure there are "facts & figures" so an "Open Process" can determine the best course of action, or development, for Minnesota.  Millions & Billions & no control.

TCF Stadium a prime example, not recruiting capabilities, "Stadium on Campus" a slogan but not a plan and now they want a New Basketball Arena, "On Campus" with parking problems or a "New Arena" DT Minneapolis for the Timberwolve's & Gophers?

Target Center, why spend $100 Million when a winning and exciting team has semi-solve the problem, use that money for the new Skyway System for Minneapolis, that's what will bring suburbia back Downtown in numbers & MOA Phase Ii & Stadium with new Tourism.  New Target Center on 7th Ave. Block; 7th Ave. which goes to Block E "and" instead of the Metrodome becoming an Indoor Waterpark, why not Target Center?

Target Field, three years from now the possibility of a Moveable Dome will be on the agenda. Even a 60 degree day has the wind swirling around the seats behind home plate and also limiting home runs. $200 Million or build a new Ballpark 8 years sooner?

The Vikings Zygi Wilf, a Fair MOA Deal for him.

Mr. Wilf has done a good job as an NFL owner who has tried hard to get Minnesota a winning football team and has had bad luck on the Stadium front and would stand to make $5 Million a year from Parking Revenues at Arden Hills this along with a good 3 1/2 Million take home on the Vikings each year so a matching deal for MOA should be discussed.

Arden Hills unfortunately is a poor location & has "No Tourism Value" like Mall of America and that $5 Million profit for Mr. Wilf will cost Minnesota $50 Billion in Tourism Revenue the next 25 yrs. plus 10,000 total jobs brought about by 5 Million Tourists a yr.

Also, there will be no upgrades for a Vikings Stadium like the Pohlad’s did for the Twins Ballpark which a Minnesota Owner would do & will Vikings financing of $400 Million for the Stadium be an issue & how long before the team is sold for the new value?

With that Xanadu Mall competing with Minnesota for Tourism and Jobs, should a New Jersey Resident be allowed to pick a "non-tourism site for MN?

StarTribune & Pioneer Press, MOA II Stadium & Xanadu Mall "Exclusion."

Minnesota Newspapers have ignored the Mall of America Phase II & Stadium & Xanadu Mall Stories. Strib. wants    to "Sell" their $40 Million Dollars worth of land to the Vikings, so no information to the People of MN who need it for an informed opinion; is that Journalism the way it was meant to be?

Only letter on a MOA II & Stadium to them, and for their Paper, will change their minds, and also a letter to Governor Dayton who had been focused "only" on DT Minneapolis:

Governor Mark Dayton, Office of the Governor: State Capitol, St. Paul, MN

In Closing, "Where would we be without Mall of America?"

You could say a lot of negative things about MOA but it's been a success and bringing large amounts of Tourism & Revenue to Minnesota, it made Tourism our States second largest industry.

We had 63 Million people from around the world visiting each year & now even  at 40 Million yr. the fame still makes it the “World’s Most Famous Mall” and our future is with a MOA II & Stadium, a “Project,” that will cost $2.1 Billion, no tax money, but will have a "Return-on-Investment" of $50 Billion over the next 25 years plus 5,000 everyday Jobs.

Minnesota has an “Image Problem...”

Minnesota has lost its “Mojo, it isn’t “Cool” anymore & has been on the decline since we were seen as “Innovative & Cool” in the 70’s.  Sports Casters keep talking about why top sports talent does not want to play or live in Minnesota; what about executive, academics, and those smart “middle” people, what is our image to them?  A MOA Phase II & Stadium for a great new Minnesota image.

Visitor to MOA, “Atlanta is cool, a city on its way up; Minnesota now just another place, it used to be cool;” had to agree.  Governor, Legislature, MN's image is up to you.

Governor Dayton, an “Tourism & Stadium Task Force?, is needed to collect & compile the complex information that is needed for not only a Stadium but the "Big Picture" of Downtown Development and the interaction between both.

Downtown needs a solid customer base of weekday visits with people that will come to shop and to get that you need "Controlled Safe Space" and a place they can relate to, like Mall Space and next generation Skyways, Street-wide Boulevards as a start.

The Downtowns need the money for that and MOA Zone Revenue Sharing with MOA getting a Phase II & Stadium provides the revenue, also, MOA will bring in 10 Million new Tourists a year that will travel to downtown with that new space & bring money.

Governor Mark Dayton can set up the "means" for a "Big Picture" Discussion on just what Minnesota and the various factions need and broker a deal that moves Minnesota forward.  The Vikings also need a solution they can live with, a reasonable one.

A MOA II & Stadium is a great opportunity “for the People of Minnesota,” and Government, what's your call???  Here are the numbers:

        *  5 Million Tourists a year coming back to MN.

        *  5,000 Tourism & 5,000 Construction Jobs.

        *  $50 Billion in Economic Impact over 25 years

        *  $150 Million a year in State Tax Revenues.

        *  $1 Billion for MOA II - Stadium Naming Rights.

        *  With "User" Funding build the Whole MOA II.

$4 Billion” in Free Worldwide Tourism Advertising for 25 Yrs., lets not forget MOA is a “Top 3” Worldwide Destination that with a MOA II & Stadium:

1.4 Billion People will visit Mall of America the next 25 yrs. and provide a $2 Billion a year Economic Impact & Tax money for MN.

Naming Rights worth "$200 to $300 Million Dollars, and that's the comment on Feb. 13th from a "Buyers Agent" and MN with a "Sellers Agent" can more than double that plus huge amounts of Signage Advertising from MOA Events.

"Young People's Hope for the Future...             On Aug. 2 & 3, 2011 called on 50 Hotels on the 494 Strip with MOA II & Stadium information for the General Managers & a great surprise followed:

The young people at the Front Desks loved the MOA Phase II & Stadium Plan, and what "They" saw was, "Hope for their Future;" MOA II is more than about a Stadium, it's jobs, an image upswing, and hope for our young people in Minnesota.  Governor Dayton, Legislature a MOA II for Minnesota's youth???

All the People of Minnesota Deserve Hope for the Future...

And it's up to Minnesota's Elected Officials to provide that opportunity and in the case of a new Sports Facility and the need for Tourism help with the Competition from Xanadu's Mall and the decline of MOA's Tourism due to nothing new since 1992,  the only answer is a Mall of America Phase II & Stadium that will provide new Tourism, a Stadium, Jobs, Revenue and a new image for Minnesota and "Hope" for the future...

MOA II & Stadium, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Minnesota...

Mall of America II & Stadium, Opens, October 2015, years faster then other Sites.
